I know I’m starting this blog in the middle (or, towards the beginning) of something, but I’ll just assume you can get up to speed or weren’t going to read from the beginning, anyway.
I live in the mountains of Colorado and there’s a dirt road I’m off of. The dirt road forms a loop that’s 9.65 km long and has a gross increase in elevation of about 285 m (≈900 ft). I have done the loop twice now this year (before that, I hadn’t done it since 2014). If if I do the loop, I go counter-clockwise, starting downhill, since that has the steepest grades as downhill — grades in excess of 25%. If I don’t do the loop, I go clockwise, meaning I get all the uphill at the beginning along with those very steep grades.
And, that’s what I did tonight. It took me exactly 40 minutes, was a 3.54 km walk, and an elevation gain of 138 m (453 ft). 400 calories. I did the loop yesterday, and I should NOT have done a walk today. I nearly gave up twice … I’m just too out of shape. But, I carried through despite how slowly I went for some parts, so that’s something?
