I didn’t really want to write yesterday’s blog, and going to bed close to 10pm helped not write it. The reason is that I didn’t exercise. I was fine on food, and I even filled my rings because my exercise on Sunday went well past midnight, but getting up late, work, and going to bed early was a simple excuse to avoid doing weights.
I went to bed early because I got up at 4am this morning to see the comet NEOWISE, AKA comet C/2020 F3. For those in the northern hemisphere, it’s visible in the very early dawn sky, and for the next several days it’ll be visible about 5–10 minutes earlier each morning until it becomes an evening object in a week or two or three (I haven’t looked it up lately). So, I got photos of those and then went back to sleep.

Which takes us to today’s food and exercise. Food was fine, despite the yellow-red text on the calorie count, it was still just 102% of my goal so it’s fine. Exercise … was good! I was going to not do it. I had excuses already in place to avoid doing weights. Like, I can still get 3 sessions in this week if I start on Wednesday. Or, I’m still slightly sore. Or, I wanna nap. But, at 5:00, after a nap, I went to the basement and did the weights.
Doing weights is really quite unpleasant, at least for me, at least now. Despite my heart rate averaging lower than when doing the elliptical, and peaking at lower than peak in the elliptical, I was sweating significantly more. I’m guessing it’s because I was working out more muscles than are used to being worked out? Anyway, with that done, less than three hours later, it was back to the basement for cardio.
Writing this now at 10:20pm and going to get up at 4am again for the comet … I should go to bed!
