Daily Summary: 13 March, 2022

Daylight Savings Time began again today, skipping the hour of 1am. I certainly felt later in the day as though it was late for it to be getting dark, which is a good thing rather than a bad thing – getting darker later, that is. I slept absolutely horribly last night, getting a sleep score of 26% on my watch, so it’s perhaps no surprise I napped for around 90 minutes this evening since I couldn’t keep my eyes open.

I planned out a skeleton of meals this week based on some input from the bf, who basically said he wanted “beef, fish, chicken, fish, beef, left-overs” in that order for dinners. It’s not quite that clean due to many more left-overs than he realizes, and we’re doing jambalaya tomorrow (though I guess that does have beef sausage since he won’t eat pork), but I basically planned what he wanted. I almost stuck inside my goals today, the only real reason I’m over is due to more protein than planned which is okay and a decent way to start the week.

Another decent way to start the week was exercise. The bf came to join me back in bed around 10am, but while he was napping thru 11, I did my first walk today. At 51°, I wore shorts and a tank-top, kinda chilly but decent. By the time he joined me for the 2:30 walk, even though it was 63°, I was freezing in those clothes: The wind was well above 30 mph. Still, we went farther than we have the last month or so for our “short” walk that was about 14 minutes long.

And finally, for the first time in at least a year, I did core exercises. Well, tried. Did a few, sat out a few, and put a yoga mat or mat in general on the shopping list. Can’t do that stuff on tile, and can’t do it on berber carpet that’s original to the house (25+ years old). Did a 5-minute Apple Fitness+ “Meditation” thing after that, which didn’t do too much and apparently also didn’t count as exercise. 🤷

I feel like I have a spurt of renewed motivation, and I want to not waste it, so I’m trying to implement all those original goals and get the habits going after last week’s trip.

I have some vague idea in my head that I might possibly get down to ≈205 lbs by my birthday in two months, which is a steady –2.3 lbs/week. While possible, it’s not likely. But we’ll see. The biggest issue will be putting down the fork!! The second-biggest will be actually doing strength training: I’m almost certain that if I actually do lose around 20 lbs in the next two months and I don’t do any strength training, my bodyfat percentage will not go down as much as I would like it to.

Based on the latest spurt since December 26, 2021, I was supposed to be down to about 25.8% bodyfat this week, and ≈209.7 lbs. Today’s bodyfat was 28.0% and weight was 226.4 lbs. I’m not going to catch up, but I don’t want to keep resetting my goals every few weeks when I don’t meet them, so I’m going to leave this in for at least another month or so and see what happens, ignoring the red in my spreadsheet indicating I’m behind on my goal for the week.
