It’s been a similar end-of-the-week to last week.
With respect to food, I succeeded in being at work on Tuesday without snacking (much). But this Friday, like last, I yet again proved to myself I have zero self-control when it comes to doughnuts. I think the only way to really deal with that is (a) not go into work on Fridays, or (b) plan on pigging out on doughnuts on Fridays. (a) isn’t entirely feasible because I have a weekly standing meeting with my student, in-person. So, while (b) isn’t ideal, it’s what I’m going to need to do for the foreseeable future. Well, except next week. And the next week. And then skip a week and then for the next three weeks. Because of travel.
Now, with respect to exercise, it’s been a mixed bag. I’m still not doing the amount of exercise I need to, and not doing weights nor core, but I am doing better getting in the cardio. A lot. Well, relatively speaking. And variety! So, the last post was all about biking, and I biked again on Thursday. And then stopped because my tender tushie was hurting from the bike seat (apparently it takes awhile to get used to it again). I skipped Friday because I was at work and then spent – literally – 8 hours working on travel plans for Australia in May/June. But then today (Saturday), I set an alarm, and every 1.5–2.0 hours, I was in the basement either doing the elliptical or rower for 15 minutes. That lasted the afternoon and once in the evening.
I also think that that should continue, as much as I can: Walking certainly works out things that I don’t get on other equipment, bicycling works out legs and butt that walking doesn’t hit entirely, while rowing certainly gets arms in there, too. And at least for me right now, the elliptical can’t be beaten with getting my heart rate to a nice, steady pace for cardio fitness or fatburning, and can’t be beaten for steady calories/minute burned.
But as usual, I have to get eating under control.
