Today is brought to you by the letter, “WTF IS WRONG WITH MY SLEEP?”
I had significant issues getting to sleep last night, and it was still too late. Took me about two hours to get to sleep. Woke up with 20 minutes to clean up before the house cleaner was to come, but then after 45 minutes I checked my messages and she’s coming tomorrow. With that and an 80% humidity (WTF Colorado?!), I did not get down to bike, again. And humidity is supposed to be high again tomorrow morning. Not until it gets hot – 95°F on Saturday – is it supposed to be lower humidity. So, not sure if I’ll be biking this week.
That said, I knew I was going to have issues being motivated to work today, and with my student taking Friday off, I don’t need to go into work then, so … I went grocery shopping today instead of Friday. And without going into work Friday, I can cross two doughnuts off my food on Friday and eat other things, so that’ll be nice. And another “win” was that I waked right on past the doughnuts at the grocery today without getting one. Or two. Or three …
Now, with me, it’s never straightforward and just a “win.” The boyfriend requested a fair bit of fruit, and so after I got home, we had a bag of open grapes in the refrigerator. Hmmm….
And, with now four pounds of powdered sugar / confectioner’s sugar / icing sugar (depending on where you live), I could try Attempt #6 at macarons, which took until after midnight so are on tomorrow’s food list.
Not thinking I was eating so many grapes, I also dipped into the bag of gummy bears in the pantry (gummy, or gummi? I’ve seen both). And then the next morning, I woke up 0.5 lbs heavier than today (since I’m writing this on Thursday). So, I went back to the food log and tried to account for eating more than one or two grapes, and in the end decided I over-did it on carbs. And in general, given the low motivation and disgustingly humid Colorado day, I didn’t exercise. But, I was able to complete my rings with all the grocery shopping and putting things away.
I guess to move towards a more positive note, I did make jambalaya which takes two hours but makes eight meals. So, I suppose it’s better to do that on a low-motivation day for other stuff so that I’m not stopping work to spend two hours in the kitchen?
So … some wins, some not-so-wins.
