Daily Update: 09 July, 2022

I again had some significant issues falling asleep, laying awake in bed for at least two hours. Falling asleep maybe by 2am is not conducive to getting up to bike at 5:30am, and I think I turned off my 6am alarm without even waking up. By the time I woke up at 8, it was already 80°F out, so I did not bike today, meaning I did not do each of my four main types of cardio at least once this week.

With the weather still >80°F well past 8pm, I didn’t walk, either, and I really didn’t want to sweat to the elliptical tonight, so at 10:30pm, I forced myself to go downstairs and do weights. I talked myself into it by saying it’d be light: I used the bar with the same weights on for everything, 70 lbs total, to get the motions in and get back to reasonable form. Of course, 70 lbs was close to my last weight anyway for the bicep curls and the military/overhead presses, and less than ⅓ my weight for squats, but, whatev’s.

With that all in mind, food … I think part of what kept me up was that I was designing a dessert I wanted to try to make, a variation on the chocolate bombe. Basically, you have a hemispherical mold that you put stuff in like a mousse, put a cookie or something on top, de-mold, and cover in chocolate. Which (you can see where this is going), I made over the course of today: I made a brownie for the base, buckeye centers in small hemisphere molds, a peanut butter mousse, assembled, then covered in chocolate. 560 calories per bombe, I ate it at night after already doing my food for the day, and … didn’t count it. Hence the asterisk on today’s calories.

That in mind, the bf went out today (first time out since he got COVID), and had dinner while helping with an open house. So I again pushed off Greek chicken ’til tomorrow, realized the mangos were ripe, and switched it with mango chicken … again, meal planning is great, but you have to be flexible which can also be frustrating!

All-in-all, it was not a bad day, but of course, it could have been better. Oh, and one way that it was good: The careful eating yesterday paid off and my weight was way down this morning.
