Daily Summary: 29 July, 2020

Before I talk about today, something worth mentioning – two things, actually – are that (1) it’s that time of the cycle where I start to plan out the next few weeks of food, and I did that and then showed my bf, we discussed, iterated, and now all that’s left is to implement it next (not this coming) weekend. After going shopping next Wednesday. (Trying to keep not going out too much.) I also added two new dishes (a “healthy” sausage-pasta dish, and Indonesian-style fried rice). (2) This week, I upped the level on the elliptical from 8 to 9, and besides my average heart rate going up by about 7 bpm, I’ve gone from an average of 10.1 cal/min to 11.2 cal/min. I’m sweating more and it’s more uncomfortable and tiring (duh?), but it I’m putting in the time, it makes sense. And I’m getting “better” at cardio, so I should be increasing my level to keep up with that. Moving on …

Today was slightly high on calories, but well within my ±5% tolerance. The main issue was that I added a pound of tofu to the pad se ew, but I hadn’t factored that in when planning the day/week, so by the time I did, that already made me go over.

For exercise, I went downstairs at 10:45pm and planned to do at least 1hr 15min. But, with the increased level, and me still not having a great intuitive sense of these points for the Apple Watch challenge, I was finally a few points ahead of my friend after 50 minutes so I stopped because I was dripping and my towel was soaking (TMI?).

Work-wise, I took a lot of time off today, though I still got the third paper edited / commented on. I spent a fair amount of time cleaning, first time in many weeks where I actually had some time to just do housework. It wasn’t enjoyable (less unenjoyable than exercise!), but the house – or, part of the house – looks better!

I guess I should also mention that my bodyfat percentage was down slightly today, but it has consistently been 25–25.3% the last 3 weeks, so I think I can say I’m at a 4-year low. The previous low, in 2017, was 25.6%. The last measurement I have for 2016 was 24.1%, so I’m at least at a 4-year low. So, that’s nice.
