Weekly Summary: Week 16, 02–08 August, 2020 (Cut)

One-sentence Summary: This week was not good.

Food: So, on average, food this week was okay. It was a little high, but I was within 1% of my macro goals and within 5% of my calorie goals. What really effed me up was Tuesday when I went into the office and was away from home for over 13 hours. I went grocery shopping (got a doughnut), and I cleaned out expired food (I’m responsible for office snacks, and with hardly anyone there, lots of stuff expired. I brought my pad thai for lunch, but being there so long, my will-power just went away with bags of chips sitting next to me. It was just bad. Which led me to try to recover the rest of the week, which had its own issues.

Exercise: Besides still not doing the morning core exercises for ≥15 minutes, I did not make my ≥5 ≥40 min bouts of cardio this week due to exhaustion. I know this will all read like whiney excuses, but it’s what happened, so deal with it: Conferences. I alternatively forgot about one of the other conference I had this week. Monday and Tuesday, I was a passive attendee and it was 5 hours with a 1-hour break. Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, I was helping to run it and had to monitor everything the whole time, for 7 hours with a few, scattered, 20-minute breaks. It was exhausting, and combined with less sleep this week led me to miss a night on the elliptical.

Sleep: Sleep was way down this week, though I still managed to average at least 8 hrs/night, even if one night was just over 7 hours. It was not a good thing.

Measurements: And so because of the above, my measurements did not really improve this week. Yes, average weight went down, very slightly. But the trend was up this week, and my various tape measurements did not go down. Now, they didn’t go up, but they didn’t go down. I feel a bit like I’m reaching a self-imposed plateau that I very much need to power through, or I’ll risk losing motivation.

Points: Points were 18 down this week because of the sleep issue, cardio, not doing core again, and not meeting food goals once.

Looking Over the Week: It sucked. Let’s move on.

Looking Ahead 1 Week: This coming week is the last one before my maintenance week. I hope to make significant improvements, if only so that I don’t lose momentum and feel like I’m failing and give up. Though that also means in two weeks, my goals reset and are re-examined.
