Daily Update: 04 July, 2022

Well, it’s been a bit of a difficult day for food, and other stuff because of food. Completely my choice, but still …

I did not make dinner last night, we decided I would make it for lunch today. I counted it last night, and ate today’s scheduled lunch last night, but I’m okay with that sort of switch and not dealing with the whole “this is cheating or counting later” thing because the intent of tracking that is to track, well, cheating (“bad” foods that are high fat/carbs). So I spent an hour making that today. I also made my annual 4th of July mini-tarts / tartlets that I decorate with berries and whipped cream to look like American flags. Those took a few hours, divided time. And I made the scheduled dinner of turkey lettuce wraps, which also took an hour.

And so, I actually would have been within my calories and macros, but there were left-over macarons. I stopped myself at three. I need to give them away, otherwise I’ll eat them. And they’re too sweet.

But then because of the cooking and time spent in the kitchen, I put off doing any exercise. I kept saying, “I’ll do it at the top of the hour.” Yeah, we know how that goes. I managed to get my butt downstairs after the sun went down and it got below 80° (we try not to use the air conditioner) and did the elliptical for a bit, but I didn’t get weights in. How’d I manage to get to 25 minutes? Well, I was going to do at least 20. Then I saw that I needed another minute to fill my move ring. Did that. Another minute to fill my exercise ring. Did that. Another two minutes to get to 200 calories. Did that. And another 20 seconds to get to to 25 minutes, so did that.

I’m trying to get to bed on time tonight instead of midnight and then get up around 7:00–7:30, drive down to the mailboxes, and get some bicycling in. It’s going to be 70° by 7:30am, which doesn’t sound like a lot, but it is a hot 70° in the Colorado summer sun.

Going back to food, I suspect I’ll need to re-kajigger the meal plan again because the boyfriend still isn’t eating that much. Except sugar … I told him not ot eat a full tart tonight, he’d be sick, but he ate the full 650 cal sucker and then fell asleep. So, that was his dinner. At least he ate the chicken with brussels sprouts for lunch. But, I now have three left-overs for him, which if he does eat a lunch and dinner tomorrow and then lunch on Wednesday, he’ll get through. If not, Wednesday night I’m making jambalaya, which makes 8 servings (you spend two hours, you’re gonna make a full batch), and then I’ll probably have to stretch things out by Friday and Saturday for what he is or is not eating.
